What’s my plans for summer?

For many of us, summer has finally arrived! Of course, we all deserve a well-earned rest after surviving exam season. But as future lawyers, we all know the work does not end here. It is time to build on your skills and look back on past applications that you got rejected on. Research firms more or if you do not want to take the legal route anymore, this summer holiday would be the best time to explore your options and secure some work experience in different sectors.

This would inevitably put you at an advantage against other students. So, it is time to improve your CV and just send it around to local firms to ask for some work experience. Also try to complete some competency-based tests that law firms encourage you to do as this would prepare you for future applications.

Another thing to get involved with is charity work. Not only would this be beneficial for your future applications and interpersonal skills, but it would allow you to realise that you are always in a better position than someone else in the world. this can humble you as a person and make you more aware of the devastating events occurring around the world.

Pro bono- as many of you may know, pro bono work is extremely pivotal to law firms as this work is what allows them to differentiate from other firms. Completing some pro bono work would put you at an advantage against other individuals as this would portray that you also mirror the chosen firm’s beliefs.

As an end note- I do hope you have a fun but restful summer!
